We want to help everyone find the run club that's right for them! Whether you are a newbie or a long-time runner, out to socialise or to compete, or just want to get outside and improve your fitness, there's a run club out there for you. We've listed run clubs with their location and timings as well as a general category to help you find the club for you.

Every club on this list is open to all but to help you find the right group we've categorised them into four groups;

  • Social - for those who are looking for a running group as a social activity
  • Community - groups aimed at inclusivity, wellbeing and fitness
  • Recreational - for those who just love running and want people to do that with
  • UKA Affiliated - clubs who are UK Athletics affiliated and compete in competitions as well as running weekly trainings

We hope this guide is helpful but everyone is different and we recommend giving a few a go and see what works for you!

Mikkeller Running Club Liverpool has been established since 2015 and is affiliated with the Danish craft brewery Mikkeller, from which the name is taken. In 2025 we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary, with special events planned! We are one of around 300 Mikkeller Running Club Chapters across the world – and currently the largest Chapter in the UK.

When do we run?

We run every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm between February and November, meeting in Sefton Park or Central Station, with monthly events from Black Lodge at 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month.

Keep an eye out on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter for route details and where we'll be heading for post-run drinks!

How far do we run?

We run a 5k distance for all our planned runs. Our routes vary depending on where we're finishing the run, with everyone starting and finishing in the same location.

Am I good enough?

People often ask "am I good enough to run with you?" Yes, of course you are! We welcome runners of all abilities! There is no elitism and we have run leaders for various paces to ensure nobody gets left behind.

Club Captain Andrew, Vice Captain Oliver and our Run Leaders are all UK Athletics Qualified Group Leaders, which means all Runners are insured when they head out with us.

We are a welcoming running club based in Mossley Hill in south Liverpool. We hold road training sessions every Monday and Wednesday at 18:30 and all sessions start and end at Mossley Hill Athletics Club L18 8BX, lasting approximately 1 hour. Our sessions regularly take advantage of the lovely parks and green spaces we have in the local area.

Generally, we run as two groups designed to suit the abilities of those in each. Our coaches Tony and Chris are always on hand to guide you in the right direction.

We regularly stay behind at the clubhouse for a chat after runs, and members get discounted prices over the bar any time.

During the winter season our club takes part in the Liverpool & District Cross Country league, as well as our own club championships all year round. We are affiliated with England Athletics however of course there is no pressure to compete if that isn’t your cup of tea. The running club is part of the wider Mossley Hill Athletic Club community, which includes football, rugby, tennis, cricket teams and more.

How fast, how far or how well you can run doesn't matter because everybody - whatever their ability- is an equally valued member of the club. We all strive to be better runners, but there is no pressure and no elitism.

Training regularly

Our road training sessions run every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7pm. They are split into five ability groups, last for one hour, and are free to club members. Off Road and XC training typically takes place on the same days but also includes weekend running.
