The standout feature is its balance of waterproofing and breathability. With a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and similarly high breathability rating, it handles heavy rain exceptionally well without turning into a sweat box.

Field tests show it can withstand prolonged downpours with no leakage, even around seams and zips, while still venting heat during climbs.

In windy, exposed conditions, it performs just as well—the close fit and well-designed hood prevent flapping

At roughly 150–175g, the Stormshell is impressively light and packs down into its own pocket, making it ideal for races with mandatory kit requirements or long runs where space matters.

You can easily stash it in a running vest and forget it’s there—until you need it.

The fit is athletic and minimalist. It’s designed to sit close to the body, which improves performance in wind and rain but limits layering. Great for fast runs and races but not ideal if you want to wear bulky insulation underneath.

The soft Pertex Shield fabric also gives it a more comfortable feel than many crinkly waterproofs.
