I'm a “jack of all trades” kind of runner; I do it all whether that means long training stints on the road and trails or hill attacks in the Lakes or Wales. I’m someone that seeks out the fastest way down most of the time. Over the last few months, I've been fortunate enough to take Dynafit's Ultra 100 V3 out for a spin (about 400km worth) and it's been a very interesting ride!

Dynafits Ultra 100 is exactly what it says on the tin. It's an out and out Ultra shoe; a long-distance monster with plenty of soft cushioning underfoot and plenty of rear foot hold with even more cushioning to help carry you through those longer distances.

Whilst it's incredibly roomy fit could prove too roomy for some, its forgiving 6mm drop, easy going super critical foam and 4mm Vibram Megagrip lugs means that it lends itself to those long, arduous summer Trail Marathons and Ultras on hardpacked surfaces that will prove invaluable to others. It's not a shoe for technical finesse, its a shoe that gets you to the finish line and it gets you there comfortably!

Not for mud, it's not a technical or precise fit, but it's not supposed to be. Some might prefer a slightly downsized fit, but honestly it's not designed for that so it's not recommended! Stay true to size and it would suit highly cushioned socks perfectly! Almost as if that was what Dynafit had in mind all along!

Not suited for muddy or highly technical trails

Built more for comfort than technical performance

Final Thoughts

The Ultra 100 V3 is very much a “comfort over cleverness” kind of shoe. It’s built for runners who value protection, cushioning and easy miles over sharp handling and technical precision. On smoother trails and long-distance outings it feels dependable and forgiving, especially as the miles start to stack up. It won’t be the shoe for aggressive terrain or muddy mountain days, but if your priority is staying comfortable deep into an ultra, it does that job really well.
